Home Visitor
Home Visitors have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families with young children, helping them reach their full potential by working with them in their homes on a weekly basis.
Who are we looking for?
- A person with great communication skills. You can talk with parents and children (primarily ages 0-5).
- A person that has patience and are able to work with people with different abilities
- A person that is creative, that can use our provided curriculum and engage young children and parents. A person that can adapt these lessons for different ages and abilities.
- A person that is organized, can manage their time with multiple tasks and paperwork.
- A person with good computer skills.
Day to Day – What Does It Look Like?
As a home visitor, you’ll visit one-on-one with 10-12 families for 90 minutes each week. Each family’s visit will look different based on their needs. Home Visitors plan and implement weekly lessons, complete assessments on the children, take observations and record their child development and behaviors.
Home Visitors also plan and host Family Events (gatherings of the families on their caseload) twice a month. This gives the families and opportunity to build connections with other parents of young children, and gives the children a chance to socialize.
You’ll have a team of other home visitors to plan and network with on a daily or weekly basis.
The office location for this position is based on the caseload. Currently we are seeking applicants that can work in Bagley, MN.
Typical home visitor schedule (but not guaranteed) is Monday through Thursday 7:30 am-5:00 pm and Fridays 8:00 am-12 noon. This position is year-round.
Qualifications
- Home Visitor CDA (Child Development Associate) or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Do not have these credentials? Apply anyway – we may be able to train you!
- Experience working with young children (personal or professional) preferred
- Must complete a background check prior to hire.

CLASSROOM ASSISTANT TEACHER

Day to Day – What Does It Look Like?
As a substitute assistant teacher, you could be in our classroom Monday-Thursday to assist the Lead Teacher with providing a classroom experience for all the enrolled children. You’ll work as a team to offer circle time, small group, playground, and meal time. You’ll assist with cleaning of the classroom, taking children to the bathroom, handwashing, toothbrushing, etc. You’ll document observations of what the children are able to do during class.
The classroom location for this position is Thief River Falls or Bagley, MN.
A substitute could work Monday through Thursday between 8 am – 3 pm, between September and May each school year. This would be on an on-call basis, with short notice for working, with varying needs throughout the school year. Due to the schedule / nature of the position, benefits for the position are limited.
Qualifications

Health Specialist
A Health Specialist will focus on assisting enrolled families in meeting our health related requirements, as well as document their progress through their Head Start enrollment. The Health Specialist may be the reason that a child gets the medical treatment they need to be successful in school, or help a family find the resources needed to best serve their child.
Who are we looking for?
- A person with great communication skills. You can talk with people, in person, on the phone, through email – this might include parents of enrolled children, a community partner, or your team members.
- A person that has patience and are able to work with people with different abilities.
- A person that can make sense of health records, document health activities, plan health events, monitor snack and meal menus / requests, monitor cleaning and safety, and much more.
- A person that is organized, can manage their time with multiple tasks and lots of paperwork.
- A person with excellent computer skills.
Day to Day – What Does It Look Like?
As a Health Specialist, each day will look a little different. Much of the work will be using a computer, but what you do will depend upon the day of the week and the time of the year. Some parts of the year are highly focused on data entry and monitoring health records, others are setting up health events to provide health services to enrolled children.
Other tasks include reporting on the status of children’s health requirements, reviewing policies and procedures, and setting up screenings for enrolled children.
You’ll have a team of managers to work with to make sure the program is meeting all of its requirements.
The office location is to be determined, but we have offices in Oklee, Thief River Falls, McIntosh and Bagley. Please call to discuss possibilities.
The schedule is anticipated to be 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, but there is possibility of attending recruitment activities in the evening or weekends.
Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED and 1 or more years of administrative, clerical, or Head Start specific work experience. Preference for an associate degree or credential in a health related field (such as CNA, EMT, Med Tech, Nursing, or Medical Coding).
- Must have strong computer skills and be willing to learn how to use new software.
- Must complete a background check prior to hire.
